OUTLOOK: BETTER RISK PLANNING
The complexity of IT management is escalating. Technology itself is transforming at breakneck speed, triggering intricate demand dynamics. Organizations are progressively decentralizing into smaller units whose only link is often IT. Companies need to minimize the risks of this complexity by shifting their IT planning to a new level of precision and speed. To ensure a 360-degree perspective, they should involve both users and external consultants, employing sophisticated IT-based planning tools (e.g., scenario techniques) as appropriate. A carefully structured process can identify planning risks and develop effective countermeasures. Best-practice organizations are already developing their IT planning process in this direction.
